Jacqueline Lampert is the Founder and Creative Director of PeppaRose, a destination-inspired luxury scarf brand created exclusively for global travel retail. Designed in her Colorado studio and produced in Italy and Nepal, PeppaRose combines hand-drawn artwork, storytelling, and craftsmanship to create collectible silk and cashmere accessories inspired by the world’s most beautiful destinations. Since launching just two years ago within cruise retail, PeppaRose has grown from a unique concept into a independant brand carried onboard leading premium and luxury cruise lines including Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, Oceania, Cunard, Princess, and Viking. Jacqueline is passionate about travel, art, and creating meaningful retail experiences that connect guests to the spirit of the journey.
What does this award mean to you personally and professionally?
This award feels a little overwhelming, in the best possible way. PeppaRose has been built independently from the ground up, so to receive this kind of acknowledgement from the industry is incredibly meaningful.
More than anything, I think the award reflects the generosity and support of so many people within travel retail who have encouraged me, shared their knowledge, collaborated with me, and given a small emerging brand an opportunity. WiTR+ members such as Farah Barhorst, Gerry Munday, Sue Gosling, and Rowena Holland are just a few of the individuals who immediately come to mind for their insight, pragmatism, generosity and encouragement.
What has been the most defining moment or achievement in your career so far?
It’s very hard to single out one defining moment or achievement because the journey has been a kaleidoscope of experiences that have all contributed to moving the business forward.
This kaleidoscope includes not only the positive moments and successes, but also the disappointments and setbacks. In many ways, the latter have probably been the most defining moments of all, because they forced me to stop and ask myself: What can I learn from this? How can I grow from this experience? What is it trying to teach me?
I think some of the greatest growth in my career has come from learning how to navigate those moments with perspective, resilience, and the willingness to learn, and keep moving forward.
What advice would you give to women building a career in Travel Retail?
I think relationships matter enormously in this industry. To quote Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you said… but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Professionalism and a strong work ethic are vital, of course. But so are kindness, reliability, humility, and generosity: give more than people expect, and do it with the right intention.
I would also say: don’t be discouraged if growth feels slow. Take an honest look at whether there are ways you can improve, and then move forward. Many opportunities develop gradually over time.
What inspires or motivates you most in your leadership journey today?
My late father has been a tremendous inspiration to me. He did courageous and meaningful work in South Africa during a very difficult period in the country’s history. His example reminds me that life should be lived with purpose, integrity, courage, and a sense of responsibility toward the people and communities in which you work and live.
More than anything, I don’t want to reach the end of my life wondering whether I could have done more, created more, or contributed more. I want to see how far I can travel along this journey, learn everything I can along the way, bring value to the people and companies I work with, and build something I feel genuinely proud of.
